Applications of Dynamic Seals

Dynamic seals are used wherever there is motion between a mechanical part and a seal, such as between a piston and cylinder.

There are various types of motion: rotary, translatory, reciprocating or oscillating. The seal’s job is to keep the sealing force even, reduce friction and prevent leakage of gas and liquids.

Let's look at the various applications of dynamic seals.

Rotating seals

Radial shaft seals are used in gearboxes, hydraulic pumps and axles. They are low-pressure seals used between a rotating shaft and housing. They seal in lubricating fluids and prevent exterior contaminants entering the device.

These seals are made from high-performance materials like PTFE and fluoroprene XP. Rotary shaft seals can come in different hygiene standards for mixers, grinders and bottling systems in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Swivel seals

Swivel seals are designed for slow rotary applications where they seal hydraulic fluid and pressure between a shaft and a housing that have relative rotation with respect to each another. Rather than one or both of the elements rotating in the same direction, swivel seals contend with dissimilar movement vectors.

Wipers

Wipers protect pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders from contaminants by wiping the rod as it passes in and out of the cylinder. This stops contaminants from getting inside the cylinder as the cylinder rod retracts. Our wipers can be customised with or without metal reinforcement, or as a double lip wiper with or without pressure relief.

V-rings

V-ring seals are rubber seals for rotary shafts. The seals have a main body stretch over the shaft and a sealing lip projecting against the counter face from a hinge. The V-ring seal protects bearings from contaminants while retaining lubricant, and are often used as secondary seals.

Damper and steering dynamic seals

We offer oil seals for damper and steering systems for light vehicles, heavy duty, rail and special purpose applications. Seals are also available for motorcycle suspension. Seal types include twin tube, monotube, branded pistons, steering seals and gas spring seals.
